Zuda April: The Meadowlands

John Roke, an employee of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, is tasked with the job of cleaning up the Meadowlands on the western end of Secaucus, NJ. While doing his routine job of fishing road kill out of the wetlands, John discovers mutant salamanders thriving within the obscurities of the area. With his best friend, Bull, they’re tasked with solving the mystery of how these creatures came to be and saving New Jersey from a possible infestation. All this while trying to build the courage to ask out the girl working in the neighboring building.

Not much to go on here. I enjoyed the story though. The pacing is a little slow – with a fair amount of decompression, but this looks like a highly enjoyable comic. It seems to have, in terms of art and story a ‘We Kill Monsters’ feel to it. I like the mutant salamander look – it just goes to show that mutant amphibians aren’t your friends!
