Review: The Wrong House

The Wrong House is the story of three teen misfits and a Halloween night gone terribly wrong. Lawson’s wonderfully creative story telling and Kay’s dark, gritty art style immerse the reader in the terrifying events of the night. Told in a non-linear manner, the story works its way inside out, slowly revealing the truth behind this gruesome tale.
Adam Atherton (Lily of the Valley), had this to say about The Wrong House – “The art and traditional ink work of THE WRONG HOUSE is beautifully devilish, complimenting the dark script perfectly. If you’re into horror comics, it’s a must read.” Readers can access The Wrong House as well as the other great titles that Graphic.ly offers by visiting http://graphicly.com , or downloading the free Graphic.ly apps for the iphone or ipad.

Available on Graphic.Ly, The Wrong House brings back memories of watching Halloween, Friday The 13th and other great slasher movies. There is a clear influence here which doesn’t make this one shot less enjoyable.

Even with some excellent art the story drives this comic. I like black and white art, but the eye is lazy and it needs a compelling story to keep the reader going. Luckily The Wrong House has that! After reading this one shot I could see people asking for a sequel to the story, which is always a good thing. Luckily, Curtis seems to have a wealth of ideas in this genre which can be overlooked in the ‘capes & tights’ comics of today.

This is a story you won’t normally get in your local comic shop and deserves a read. With some great art and a story to tell, you won’t be dissapointed.
