An iVerse Update … by Michael Murphey | ComicsPl.us

It seems like a million years ago at this point, but back before I founded iVerse, I was a full time blogger and podcaster.

In fact, it is from that job as a blogger and podcaster that iVerse sprang forth. Over the past 3 years iVerse has grown exponentially (and so has the digital comics market), and I have found myself more and more bogged down with the day-to-day work of the position of “CEO” without really taking the time to do the actual FUN part of this job that I love…which is talking about comics to anyone who will listen.

So I’ve decided I NEED to make the time to do it. So I’m officially kicking off “The Company Blog” on Comicspl.us – and I will be updating it here regularly with iVerse news, industry commentary, and fun stuff from around the web that I find amusing and worth sharing. Let’s kick it off with a little iVerse Update, shall we?

Over the course of the last year and a half, iVerse has been tucked away working on a handful of projects. Some you know about, like Diamond Digital, and others you don’t…at least not yet. You will very soon, though, because we are finally reaching the stages where we can talk publicly about a few of these things, and I’m very excited about that.

On the Diamond Digital front, we’ve just completed the grueling task of creating a full API for retailers, so that they can fully integrate digital products into their sites and stores anyway they like. The service is in private beta right now, and retailers will be able to begin building all kinds of cool things with it very shortly.

Our own web-based efforts are wrapping up at roughly the same time, and you’ll soon be able to view your digital comic purchases on the web, as well as your favorite iOS device.

And for you Android fans, I am holding a Samsung Galaxy in my hand right now running the Comics+ Application on it as we speak. There are a few more things that need to be done under the hood to it, and then it’ll be live. Expect it soon.

If you haven’t updated your iOS Comics+ app recently you should. You’ll notice quite a few changes to the app, including the ability to create your own iVerse User Accounts. These accounts will become very important for those of you wishing to view your content across multiple platforms. On top of that, the app is lighting fast these days – and there are now over 50 Publishers to choose from with over 6,000 products in the store — and we’re ramping things up to start releasing content every week day — so you’ll always be able to find something new in Comics+!

Oh – and did I mention that we’re now releasing Image Comics titles day and date?

Sales are going up – more content is coming in – and things really have never been better here at iVerse. I have never been more excited about where this company is headed, and we’re all very happy to be part of the Digital Age of Comics.

Now…if we could just figure out a way to attract those pesky “lapsed” and “new” readers…hmmm….
