Amazon Gets Dilbert and Doonesbury Digital Comic Anthologies: Kindle Fire Exclusive | Ubergizmo

Amazon today announced that two anthologies of Doonesbury as well as Dilbert comic strips will be available for purchase for their first time in digital format as a Kindle Fire exclusive. In a deal between the company and Publishing company Andrews McMeel, Kindle Fire users will be able to purchase Garry Trudeau’s “40: A Doonesbury Retrospective” as well as Scott Adams’ “Dilbert 2.0” for $9.99 and $7.99 respectively.

Both titles will have four separate volumes. This announcement comes in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Doonesbury as well as the 20th anniversary of Dilbert and Amazon is planning to make the most of the display on the Kindle Fire by making the digitized comics available in full color with Kindle Panel View. If users find it hard to maneuver through the strips, Dilbert is on hand to provide some tips. Please don’t focus too much on the rhyming words in the last sentence.

Moving forward, Kindle Content’s Vice President of Content, Russ Grandinetti said, “These deluxe collections from Garry Trudeau and Scott Adams have been customer favorites in print, but have never been available in digital format. We’re thrilled to be able to offer this work from two such iconic satirists exclusively to Kindle Fire customers.” The CEO of Andrews McMeel, Hugh Andrews added on that this new format is a viable chance to bring these comic strips to a “new audience”.
