Review: Tales of The Forgotten

Unseen Shadows continue to create their universe with this excellent selection of stories.

When truth must be stolen from the mouths of the wicked, it falls beyond the reach of mere heroes.

Liars, loners, losers – trapped on the outskirts of a war fought in silence and shadow. Drawn into darkness, they flee it, they study it, they make it their home.

They are the Forgotten – a flickering circle of torchlight in an expanding world of Unseen Shadows.

Spinning out of ‘Fallen Heroes’ and launched at Thought Bubble 2012 what we get is an excellent selection and range of stories.
Here, let me show you…

What we get here is a well crafted detective story – throw in a posh public school, some ‘mystic’ stuff and you get a gripping tale with something to keep you invested in the end.
The art is good fun and smooth, yet dark in the right places.

‘Stolen’ grounds us, puts us into an urban setting with a master thief. As before there are wheels within wheels, but we get an enjoyable beginning, middle and end in a character who you feel invested in.
Backing up this storytelling is some slick art which gives you an excellent feeling of motion and action. I think a mini series of The Hand would work well!

‘Fight or Flight’ covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time, but it can be a jarring read for a newbie to the series like me.
Ever the professional I returned for a second look – and I enjoyed what I saw.
Again we get a great look at the characters, and you get invested in them and ready to read them again.

Finally we meet Bob Kelsey in The Immaculate Abortion of Dina Leigh – with a brilliant art style, and a methodical pace we get an excellent finish to these tales.

These tales come highly recommended – especially for those who want to see the cream of talent involved in the universe created around them.
