This is something pretty special which came to me before Christmas!
The series focuses on the adventures of The Lion; an embittered war hero from the kingdom’s ‘glorious’ past and The Unicorn; a young, talented, but naïve, female psychic agent.
Set in an alternate present the story begins in Thamesis, capital of The Kingdom of Albion (analogous to London and England respectively). In this world the elusive ‘magic’ of telepathic and telekinetic power are undisputed fact and it’s The Lion & The Unicorn, who must form the last line of defence against the super powered criminals and terrorists, too dangerous for the regular authorities to handle. In doing so they discover revolutionary traitors, psychic knights and immortal nobility all embroiled in an insidious plot to enslave the Whole Earth.
The first issue of Volume 0, (Volumes 1 to 3 to follow), has been self published as a limited run of 200. It is also available as an extended, format specific, fully loaded digital collectors pack, setting the template for a future digital comics app currently in development. While the app is built Facebook is being used as a storytelling platform, with a central linear narrative leading deeper into exclusive ‘in world’ art and narrative content. You can use the social network to explore the City of Thamesis, learn about the britomart corporation and the Kingdom of Albion.
