Review: 2000AD – Prog 1815

I’m back with 2000AD – don’t forget you can get it digitally either online at 2000adonline.com or on the Apple Newstand on the iPad!

Prog 1815 kicks us off in the usual way with the completion of a Judge Dredd story. This is the end of a three part story of Dredd assessing an old street Judge who is being blackmailed into killing Dredd. Obviously things do not go to plan, but there is an ending for all involved and those who know Dredd will understand his actions at the end!

Bill Savage’s return continues in Savage: Rise Like Lions – this is the third part in this ongoing story with the rebellion against the Volgans continuing. This is old school UK comics storytelling – harking back to Eagle and the like. We get the political issues between the different rebellion groups, the action and the battles. This is a good read for new and old!

Ampney Crusis Investigates more problems with time – we get aliens and a look into the problems with time and space that are being felt. The art is well suited to the story here and takes some getting used to.

In The Red Seas, we get some back and forth with the devil – building up to a battle that is hinted on at the last page. There are some nice parts here, especially when you think the Captain may be getting a grasp on everything!

The Mutant Spring is kicking off in Strontium Dog with a second mutant uprising, Johnny Alpha is a favourite of mine and it is good to see him back. The cast of characters is excellent, with different mutants and ‘norms.

Welcome to 2013 from 2000AD!
