Review: 2000AD – Prog 1838

A nice brooding cover for this weeks 2000AD!

Mega City is a wreck, and this weeks Judge Dredd story shows us more of that! Wastelands just about covers it! This second part covers it very well – dark, brooding and bloody, there’s some nice parts here in which is a very well used trope in police stories, but with a Mega City One twist. I’m enjoying this story – even when panels like the final one this week are expected! (In fact there seems that only three people weren’t expecting it!)

I usually enjoy Terror Tales, but this week I really got the creeps – I hate snakes and the thought of these snakes about really gave me some shivers! There’s some nice artwork here and the storytelling beats are really well paced.

We get the big reveal in Cadet Anderson and we’re coming to a close of this story! I especially got a kick out of the attempts at blocking the psi-probe, and again we get a good police story within the craziness of Mega City One!

Defoe has some strong storytelling with Faustian pacts and deals – all in with some further details on Defoe’s crew. There’s a strong sense of claustrophobia here and it’s building very well!

Finally we get some Sinister Dexter with Finny starting his hit list. The humour here is spot on and there some Deadpool-esq forth wall breaking!
I’m really into the story!
