This week we’ve released two amazing new books: Dangeritis by Robert M. Ball and Warwick Johnson-Cadwell, and The Black Project by Gareth Brookes.

DangeritisDangeritis follows the misadventures of low-budget super-spy Derek Danger as he somehow gets into an explosive battle with an army of ninjas when warming a microwave pasty at the local petrol station. Warwick Johnson-Cadwell (Tank Girl) and Robert M. Ball (Winter’s Knight) have created each page in turn, ramping up the danger and piling on the jokes then leaving it to the other to carry on the story. Dangeritis is a hilarious, energetic, technicolour romp and the perfect reminder of how much fun comics can be. It’s available along with the rest of Great Beast’s brilliant new lineup, including Tall Tales and Outrageous Adventures by Isabel Greenberg (author of The Encyclopedia of Early Earth) and Carry Me by Dan Berry, all just 69p/99c each.

The Black ProjectAlso just released is The Black Project, by Gareth Brookes and Myriad Editions. Set in an English suburb in the early 1990s, The Black Projectis the story of Richard’s all-consuming passion for creating ‘girls’ from household objects. But as his hobby begins to flourish, his real life friendships and family relationships deteriorate. Richard is an unreliable narrator, and the reader responds to his loneliness and his dogged attempt to find a companion, while being horrified by his warped creations. The novel’s focus is on the divide between childhood and adulthood; where sex, perversion, and the grotesque feature in their many forms.

The Black Project was winner of the inaugural First Graphic Novel Competition and has been heaped with praise. Comics journalist and curator Paul Gravett called it “Exquisite, excruciating and exceptional… A landmark, once read, not easily forgotten” and Forbidden Planet said it was “a fascinatingly creepy experience”.

Troop 142Also recently released: four more parts of classic comic Charley’s War,Troop 142 by Mike Dawson, a range of books from legendary US publishers NBM, and lots more. Keep checking your Storefront for the latest titles!
