Agent Carter: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1

Agent Carter is back in an all-new adventure that reveals her secret history with S.H.I.E.L.D.! When Dum Dum Dugan attempts to recruit her to S.H.I.E.L.D., will Peggy join up or go her own way? Operation S.I.N.’s crackerjack team of Kathryn Immonen and Rich Ellis return to the world of Peggy Carter!

Harking back to the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D. (as we know it) this has Agent Carter teaming up with an Asguardian and also gives us a look into Carter’s thoughts on S.H.I.E.L.D. This has a bit of action, although it’s a slow start and the threat is never really shown (for good reason) although I think this is one of the weaker anniversary efforts, although I enjoy the team involved and the characters!

Star Wars #9

Luke’s lightsaber has been stolen and he must retrieve it! Meanwhile, the Imperials are closing in on Han and Leia…set upon them by a mysterious woman from Han’s past!

Han’s past is catching up to him, but Leia takes matters into her own hands! Although this aspect of the story is interesting, I enjoyed the Luke portion of the story more – on Nar Shaddar he chases down his lightsaber thief and falls upon a new Hutt who has more than just a passing interest in the Jedi – it’s a nice bit of history for Luke and he learns something here not shown in the film series, but could have happened! It’s strange because last issue the roles of interest were reversed!
