Reviews: Back to the Future & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Amazing Adventures

Two of IDW Publishing’s latest digital comics reviewed!

Back to the Future #2

GREAT SCOTT! The past present and future come crashing together as only BACK TO THE FUTURE can do it! Secrets between the McFly family and Doc Brown are revealed… and what happens to the inventions that don’t quite work as planned? All thanks to the guiding hand of BTTF co-creator Bob Gale and co.!

The second part of this four issue mini series gives us another two stories. The first is Doc (in the Wild West) telling his sons the story of times gone past as he is approached by two government officials and he shows off his time-travel technology he has been working on since he was visited by Marty in the 60’s. The result of this causes no end of problems with time! Next up we get a short story of Doc and Marty in the lab. Marty has a science project and ends up going through Doc’s old inventions – what we do get in the payoff though, is the origin of something very important to Back To The Future!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Amazing Adventures #4

It’s up to Slash to rescue the rest of the Mutanimals. Will he be able to put the Turtles’ training to good use and save the day? Part two of a special story that documents the Mutanimals first adventure together!

The first story in these adventures in the world of the TMNT concludes the story from last issue with Slash captured by Krang! We get some nice flashbacks to his time growing up with the Turtles and some of the lessons he learnt here mix in well to his current predicament!

Next up, the Turtles are in the junk, when Donatello finds some really old technology – a cassette tape! April recognises it – although Donnie doesn’t, and goes out to find something to play it on. This story made me feel old!
