Reviews: Nova, Karnak, Deadpool & The Mercs For Money and Obi-Wan & Anakin

Reviews of this weeks digital comics from Marvel Comics

Nova #6

Sam Alexander learns the truth about the man who’s been masquerading as his father…and it’s going to send him back into space! The seeds of Nova’s next cosmic adventure are planted right here!

Nova’s battles and search for his father have been pivotal to the story of Sam Alexander, and this issue adds a new dimension to his story. We get a big battle scene and a look into Sam’s mind as he finally lets go. The battle looks to be moving back into space (where I think Nova works best). Meanwhile, back on earth, there are those who worry about him – his family and then there are his friends…….
This was a good issue, while not giving us a complete ending to the arc, it does move the whole Nova story on!

Karnak #3

Just when you thought Karnak couldn’t get more intense and insane, it does. The trail left by the kidnapped Inhuman gets nuclear and Karnak is caught in the mushroom cloud.

It was a shame that this title was delayed, but now it’s found its groove, I’m really getting into it. This issue had a lot of talking and only a small amount of action. The action we do get is violent and to the point – as you would expect someone like Karnak to be. He seems to be secretly enjoying the role he has, and nothing shows this more than the last panel! The story has progressed along nicely and Karnak seems to be continuing and understanding his role in this investigation well. Karnak’s explanation to Coulsdon works well to get the rest of us up to speed too!

Deadpool & The Mercs For Money #3

This issue has enough villains in it to choke a…uh…something that…eats villains, I guess…THE JUSTICE SYSTEM! Enough villains to choke the justice system.

Lots of villains here – as Deadpool and the Mercs For Money decide to auction off the future telling robot. We get some really good tongue in cheek humour here as the Villains of the Marvel U are all gathered in one room. Doom eating cucumber sandwiches and all the various groups. We also get the introduction of a new group and something to move on from this point! A good fun read, with nothing too serious!

Obi-Wan & Anakin  #4 (of 5)

Obi-wan and Anakin are trapped on opposite sides of a war…and if they’re not careful, they’re going to get caught in the crossfire! Plus…why does Anakin want to leave the order?

This seems a weaker Star Wars title from Marvel, and I am glad it is a mini series. The parts that I find most interesting are the flashbacks with Anakin and Palpatine. The action itself is passable, with some nice points towards Anakin’s skill with machines. Obi-Wan seems a little too soft here, but maybe that will change in the final issue.
