Reviews: Will Eisner’s The Spirit & Control

Thoughts of this weeks digital comics from Dynamite Entertainment

We’re at the penultimate issue of this massive arc and we get some answers for The Spirit – like why was he a captive for so long. The combination between action, mystery and humour is perfect here, and the art reflects that so well! We get car chases, shooting, romance and a final review of the villain that has been causing all these problems for The Spirit – Mikado Vaas. next issue is the big finale, and it will be interesting to see how the dust settles!

This new series kicks off well and continues the theme as we get through the issue. It’s violent, and there are some really nice scenes as we get the investigation into a death which leads to the death of two police officers! We get so into the investigation of the deaths that the final panel comes as a bit of a shock. The build is really good, getting you personally involved in the characters! The art is excellent and gritty – perfectly suited for the series – I look forward to the fallout next issue!
