Webcomic Spotlight: The Book Of Fey

bookoffey

The Book Of Fey is by Sian Jefferson and is featured on her Tumblr Webcomic here. I met Sian at the London Super Comic Con, and although she had ran out of copies of the Book Of Fey, my daughter did get a cat related comic to tide her over!

So far in the Book Of Fey we have got 114 pages of nice mystical fun.

It may start out quiet in this webcomic, but it quickly establishes itself with some nice compressed storytelling – which manages to decompress in some really nice ways!

So far we have got 5 chapters and it seems like everything is being set up. We’ve got a rich cast of characters from all side, and they all have different motivations which set them apart – it’s really nicely written. At this point in the webcomic we’ve got two quests which have been set up – both of which are interlocking and there are different reasons for rooting for both the characters involved – but they can’t both be successful! In addition to this we also have some politics, not too heavy, but some lighter (in depth, not tone) stuff – this I expect will build up. We have already been introduced to the history between the elves and humans! Then we have the mystical side with different demons and the myths that go behind them, some of which aren’t true!

The art is excellent and suits the story – some nice big panels as well as the close up scenes.

We’ve been left on a cliffhanger on page 114 so I hope we see what is next!
