Reviews: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Civil War II, Rocket Raccoon and Groot & Daredevil

My thoughts on what I read this week from Marvel Comics

A slightly behind the times tie-in to Civil War II has Coulson and his team looking to arrest Iron Man for his part in the ‘kidnap’ of Ulysses. There is also the fallout of Coulson’s “Tower Of Babel” moment for the team, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Coulson. Hill is getting worse and worse, and the ending to this issue may have ramifications for all concerned! A good issue which has been built to for a while – now what next?

Classified? But pretty much everyone knows what happens. This was one of the better Civil War II reads, with not a lot of action, but a fair amount of talking. The supporting cast were very well used – Bruce, Daredevil, Nova, Spider-Man etc they all had a part to play. This may be the turning point in this war!

Taking the scams and moving it up to 11 Rocket & Groot go to a funeral of one of Rocket’s old mentors – but things are not as they seem! This was a funny, fast moving issue, with some jokes repeating with different themes! Groot answering the phone was excellent!

The conclusion to this two parter has Daredevil teaming up with Spider-Man for a special casino heist. There are some nice touches here, with Spider-Man trusting Daredevil, but not really understanding why, this is dealt with really well, with Daredevil giving a partial explanation to Spider-Man as to why he doesn’t know him as well as he thought. Spider-Man’s comments about the black suits also hit home – both have gone through their dark stage and it’s reasonable to expect Spider-man to be worried.
