Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2011

My thoughts on this special Christmas edition of 2000 AD

It’s a 100 page special and there’s a lot to get through – some new stories start too!

First up we’ve got a Judge Dredd story – Boxing Day features a new way of trying to get the citizens of Mega City 1 to behave! As would be expected, things don’t seem to go too well! There’s an interesting family dynamic for Dredd though as he ‘celebrates’ Christmas!

Kingmaker is a new series and it looks to be an interesting mix between swords, sourcery, monsters and Sci-Fi. It looks to be quite an interesting read, with some excellent art and action pieces. This part is more of an introduction to the world, giving us a brief history. The ending of the part leaves it open though….

Scarlet Traces is returning in 2017!

Next up is Ace Trucking Co. with a story called The Festive Flip-Flop. This is filled with the classic humour you would expect and a fun look at the consumerism of the Christmas period! I really liked it, and especially the ending – although it was quite obvious!

The Order returns in Wyrm War and starts out in France 1655, but quickly moves to the Dark Ages. It gives us a look at what may have been a fairy tale, with slightly familiar characters, but there is something more, and it looks like the war against the Wyrm is going to start!

ABC Warriors are returning to fight against the Volkhan in 2017!

The Fall of Deadworld has a Winter Break with the escape still on! It’s quite an action packed one-shot, obviously there to whet our appetite for a future Deadworld story! the Deadwolves were excellent!

New story! – Hope… For The Future initially looks like a gangster story, but quickly progresses into something else! This looks to be a great magic noir detective series. The art is suitably gritty and I like the look of the story!

We get some Aquila in Mors Venetiae it’s an interesting one-shot full of violence and action. I like the character as he works his way through history and hope we see more of him soon!

There’s a new Kingdom story – As It Is In Heaven and it looks like we’re getting close to the end game. There’s more humans here, and Gene looks to to be happy – but things change!
