Reviews: Gotham Academy & Flash

Gotham Academy - Second Semester #6 & Flash #16

My thoughts on two digital comics from DC Comics

I think we’re running behind in the previews – it’s because of the Christmas special which was shoehorned in I think!
Nevertheless, this was quite an intense issue, with the students looking for either each other or the Book Of Gotham. Each of them have their own secrets and they seem to start coming out in this issue. It’s like a dark Gotham version of Scooby Doo! There is some nice bonding moments too, as we get to grips with some of the character relationships, so there is that. I also like the teachers reactions to the disappearance of the students – they know how it is!
Next issue looks to be very interesting though as the fire looks to return, and that probably won’t go well!

Talking of Fire! Flash finally starts to make ground against the Rogues after their audacious heist in Central City. Flash is down on himself, but finally gets back on track – but an encounter with Heat Wave leaves him burned. The reaction of the Rogues is very interesting – as is Captain Cold’s reaction when he learns what Heat Wave has done. Captain Cold is the most well rounded and thought out of the Rogues, and there are some interesting parts here, leading up to the finale. Heat Wave has a good character moment, and it seems obvious, but is handled well – next issue will be interesting!
