Reviews: Hellblazer & Flash

Hellblazer #8 & Flash #19

My thoughts on two digital comics from DC Comics

Constantine and Mercury continue their quest in France as John has a brief run-in with the law. He may be good at magic, but obviously didn’t do well with French at school (Asking for the French for ‘canckles’?) Things soon get sorted and John teams up with an old foe to discover more about this book, and where it is. It seems we’re going to have a unique chase through Paris next issue as they track the current owner of the book.
We also get some flashbacks to the desert and here we learn more – but not enough so that we are ahead of what John knows! The desert scenes are getting a bit more creepy.
Talking of creepy, the Djinn that Mercury has locked away is getting worse too – it seems that he is starting to manipulate her, and saying that she can’t trust John, but she already knows that!
Does John suspect? I think he does and he will plan accordingly…..!

Flash and Kid Flash continue in Australia – they, along with Boomerang have been captured and so, we have a bit of a team up. Flash isn’t happy with this, but he’s cuffed to Boomerang and has to race against the new Flash-killing guns! There’s some good Kid Flash moments here to, and I (and Barry) understand where he comes from, so that’s where Flash makes the ultimate decision. Meanwhile, at the very end, we get a revelation, which has been spoiled already across the internet, but looks interesting as we have a crossover with Batman!
