Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2049

My thoughts on Prog 2049 of 2000 AD

A cracking cover from Alex Ronald for Greysuit!

Judge Dredd: War Buds by John Wagner (w) Dan Cornwall (a) Abigail Bulmer (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

You kind of feel sorry for the War Buds/Apocalypse Squad, and I even think Dredd was too. He sentences were pretty tame really. This was a good finish to the arc, with Dredd taking a back seat to it all really. There are some good points too, and things get wrapped up quite nicely! (for most of them!)

Devlin Waugh is coming back! Excellent!

The Alienist: Inhuman Natures by Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby (w) Eoin Coveney (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

The Alienist finishes the arc, but this whole story is not over yet – not by a long shot! There are some good parts here, and the mystery is getting deeper. It looks like we’ve got some casualties too, but these won’t be felt until the next arc I expect! I like the action and the threat too!

Greysuit: Foul Play by Pat Mills (w) John Higgins (a) Sally Hurst (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

Is Greysuit over? I don’t know, but this felt like a little bit of a damp finish after all of the battles we’ve had. There was some good measures of revenge here, and the ending was very interesting!

Future Shocks: Alt-Life by Rory McConville (w) Jake Lynch (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

This felt like an old school Future Shock, good humour and a nice twist at the end that I didn’t see coming!

Hope: … For The Future by Guy Adams (w) Jimmy Broxton (a) (c) Simon Bowland (l)

Hope finishes here, but promises something for the future (maybe Hope) but it may not be good as he seems to make a deal with the devil – wrapping it all up nicely!

Prog 2050 starts many new stories!
