Reviews: Back To The Future & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Back To The Future #24 & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #75

My thoughts on two digital comics from IDW Publishing – Back To The Future #24 & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #75

Back To The Future #24

‘TIME SERVED, PART 3!’ Who’s been following Marty and Professor Irving through 1972? What happened to the DeLorean? What is 1972 Doc’s secret? And what does it all mean for Jailbird Joey Baines? All these answers and more… just in time for a whole new set of mysteries!

We finally get out of the past with these shenanigans as Marty, the Professor and his Uncle all get in trouble! Marty’s Uncle gets to go to jail, just like in the main timeline, but we do get an understanding as to why and the how.
Meanwhile, after a rescue and an explanation for the rescue, we also get the whole reason behind it all – and that leads us to a problem in the future (present).
It’s very interesting, but I do feel that we have dragged too much on this story arc, and I hope we are coming to the conclusion of it all soon!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #75

“Trial of Krang,” part 3 of 3.

The oversized conclusion to the Turtles’ greatest extra-dimensional story arc is here! Both the prosecution and the defense have tricks up their sleeves as testimony gets emotional. Meanwhile, a war rages outside the courtroom as the Malignoid swarm engulfs Planet Neutrino! Bullet points:

  •   An oversized epic that starts the road to TMNT #100!
  • Courtroom drama and extra-dimensional war action all in one issue!

Wow! That was an issue with lots of twists and turns. As it says above, this is the beginning to the build up of the #100! We get the fallout from the assassination of the judge in this issue, as well as the continuing invasion by the Hive. I’m sure that isn’t the last we see of them…

There is a lot of action in this issue too – mainly around the invasion attempt by the bug-like hive, but it gives us some space battles and TMNT battles too.
In addition to this, it can be quite wordy as the courtroom drama reaches its climax, with to great speeches, one from Leatherhead and one from Krang!

The verdict is handed down and a difficult decision is made as to the fate of Krang – I can understand it, but it doesn’t go down that well – especially with some in the room!

The finish adds in some problems for the Turtles upon their return, and looks to build up to #100
