Review: Van Helsing Vs Robyn Hood #1

Robyn and Liesel learn that they’re each separately on the trail of a seedy crime boss who’s experimenting on humans while developing an extremely dangerous designer drug. But neither Robyn nor Liesel are prepared for what they’ll uncover as the two long-time friends find themselves face to face in an epic battle to the death!

The two queens of the mini series for Zenescope feature here, with Robyn Hood and Van Helsing both featuring.

The build up is pretty simple. Both of them are on a ‘case’ one hunting vampires, the other trying to locate a missing person. That’s where they bump into each other! Robyn has been ‘off the grid’ – a nice touch, with all of Robyn’s recent problems. The team-up seems to be working well, but things don’t look like they are really going to go wrong until the last page – then it all becomes really clear!
I like the art in this issue, although some of the colouring seems a little too shiny in places. The action scenes also work well – they are well thought out and in enclosed spaces.

It’s an interesting concept and a good beginning to the story, so I am interested to see where this will go and if it will link into the larger stories going around the GFT universe!
