Review: Van Helsing Vs Robyn Hood #2

Some thoughts on #2 of this mini series from Zenescope

Robyn and Liesel learn that they’re each separately on the trail of a seedy crime boss who’s experimenting on humans while developing an extremely dangerous designer drug. But neither Robyn nor Liesel is prepared for what they’ll uncover as the two long-time friends find themselves face to face in an epic battle to the death!

Story – Joe Brusha, Ralph Tedesco, & Dave Franchini
Writer – Ralph Tedesco
Art – Allan Otero
Colours – Leonardo Paciarotti
Letters – Taylor Esposito (of Ghost Glyph Studios)

Things really escalate quickly as Robyn has been injected with a serum which turns her into a Vampire. Van Helsing does find an ally though, and things move quickly from there as she makes her way, violently, across town! We get a nice rundown from the doctor – the who, what and how and Van Helsing finds that she will have to track Robyn down before she drinks human blood! Easier said than done as she looks close.

There’s some really good fast paced action in this issue – as you would expect with these two ladies! I like the build up, and Van Helsings reaction when she was caught and being told about Vampires is classic. I was unsure on how this mini series would shape up – if it would just be a by-the-numbers story, but things are going well and I’m looking forward to the next issue!
