Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2074

Some thoughts on this weeks Prog of 2000 AD

There’s a teaser for the return of Brink in this issue!

JUDGE DREDD: FIT FOR PURPOSE by Rob Williams (w) Chris Weston (a) Dylan Teague (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A quick finish to this arc, but there is more yet to come from Judge Pin. Dredd seems to be on to Pin, but doesn’t know precisely whats up! This slow build is really good, and the hatred for Pin is building. Dredd can perhaps see the writing on the wall and wants to be prepared, but how?

JAEGIR: IN THE REALM OF PYRRHUS by Gordon Rennie (w) Simon Coleby (a) Len O’Grady (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

Nu Earth, and it’s like we never left! The war and all that goes with it starts us off and finishes the issue. In between we get a bit of a flashback and the reasons why Jaegir is back on Nu Earth. I don’t trust the reasons yet, and the ending gives me good cause not to….

SINISTER DEXTER: NIGHT CLASS by Dan Abnett (w) Steve Yeowell (a) john Charles (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

Another nice issue from Sinister Dexter – I especially like the lesson format and some of the gun shark hints given. The ending was a bit predictable, but fun nevertheless!

ANDERSON, PSI DIVISION: UNDERTOW by Emma Beeby (w) David Roach (a) Jose Villarrubia (c) Simon Bowland (l)

We learn a little more as to what is going on in the world of the Psi Judges. It’s interesting having Anderson as the old, cynical one of the Judges – I remember when she first appeared.
It assumes Anderson has a plan, and it looks worrying!

STRONTIUM DOG: THE SON by John Wagner (w) Carlos Ezquerra (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

Wulf is there in spirit and nearly in the flesh as Johnny and Kenton arrive at their job. We get a babelfish moment which is fun, and also see the problem for the aliens of this world!
This is added to the problems of the world, and that, in turns links to the job for the two S/D agents – it’s a big one! 🙂
