Review: Geek-Girl #2

The relaunched Geek-Girl #2 is out now and here are some thoughts on this latest issue from Markosia – available on comiXology.

Geek-Girl #2

As The League of Larcenists continue their machinations, Summer takes on the menacing Chromex – without the Geek-Girl powers!

Ruby is back, but in Geek-Girl #2 the second Geek-Girl isn’t doing so well!
Before we get to Summer though, we do have the villains of the piece. The League Of Larcenists seem to be getting their act together, with code-names and everything. The set up is very interesting and the leader makes some good points. Although the new ‘Num-nuts’ seems to be a problem for the group and I can see him having an effect later on.
Summer gets to meet up with Ruby – back and out of hospital – but she does get a frosty reception from Ruby’s family. The frosty reception is justified (to an extent) and Ruby seems to be having trouble reacting to it all.
Summer meanwhile still wants to be a hero, and she totally forgets herself when stopping a crime!

This issue moves things forward pretty fast, Ruby is back and there was less of the group drama than previous issues. The art and style is well done, with some good character moments. no Pit Bull in this issue (well, on the radio), but there is still some good action sequences!

Geek-Girl #2 is out July 11 from Markosia and available at www.geekgirlcomics.com and Comixology.
