Reviews: Grimm Fairy Tales, Revenge Of Wonderland & Peek-A-Boo

Some thoughts on this weeks digital comcis from Zenescope Entertainment – Grimm Fairy Tales 18, Revenge Of Wonderland #1 & Peek-A-Boo #5

Grimm Fairy Tales #18

As a long hidden tribe of trolls living beneath New York City prepares to attack the humans who live above, Skye and Samantha form an uneasy alliance with the Black Knight to try to stop them. Don’t miss Part 2 of 2 in the war against the trolls.

Full on battle against the trolls! This was well done, with Shang taking a larger role than usual in this issue. He had to – it was either that or have his head cut off. Shang seems to sort things out while the others battle. There is even some help from another of Merlin’s pawns! Merlin seems to have plans within plans and this issue shows more of that. Things are really building up though and this issue did ramp up the threat level. The trolls were well done, and the battle was brutal!
Next issue teases a return and some more Camelot themed issues!

Revenge Of Wonderland #1

Wonderland returns! The realm of madness is back with a brand new twisted tale of love, loss and vengeance! It’s been a long time since Alice Liddle’s daughter, Calie, finally escaped the twisted world that her mother was pulled into many years before her. But the insanity of Wonderland has returned and this time around things are much more dangerous and horrifying than ever before. Originally the realm of dreams, but now a realm made up of nightmares, Wonderland has been purged of its original denizens and a new ruler has emerged. The Duchess has been kidnapping people from this world and re-shaping them in her image to use as her personal playthings. Can Calie and her daughter team up to stop a new madness from emerging from Wonderland and invading our world or is it too late to stop the inevitable? Find out here is this insane first issue of a whole new Wonderland!

Revenge Of Wonderland

It’s great to see the madness of Wonderland returning, and I can see how this is called Revenge Of Wonderland! the build up is really interesting, there’s some dark stuff happening with kids, and Callie seems to have her life (mostly) on track. As does Violet, but things are not as nice as they seem, and a committed fangirl is looking to make things really problematic!

Peek-A-Boo #5

Inside the maze of caves, the hikers attempt to locate Debbie without attracting the attention of the predators. Meanwhile, Debbie manages to escape her bonds and looks for a way out. The group is ready to make their last stand and only one side is going to make it out alive.

The final part and there is a lot of violence in this issue. The characters really work and I like the set up of it all! There is a little bit of information about where these creatures come from and what they want! The battle scenes are well done and there are some nice big panels of action. The ending has a nice little twist, and I hope there is a sequel!
