Reviews: Grimm Universe Presents 2019

Some thoughts on this weeks comics from Zenescope – including a special one-shot Grimm Universe Presents 2019

Grimm Universe Presents 2019

Eight new never released stories, including introductions of brand new characters, are setting the stage for the next phase of the Grimm Universe.

Grimm Universe Presents 2019

8 stand alone stories, which should work as good primer for new readers, as well as some hints to what is to come!

The first story is a Black Knight story. It nicely introduces the characters and gives us an idea about what The Black Knight is about. The re-introduction of a older character seems a good idea, and I like the way this set up for the future, while giving a good showcase of the characters.

Hellchild is up next and although she is weaker than before, she’s got a new line of work! Again, a good introduction for new readers, with a small amount of action. This was more of a set up for a future storyline, but well done. Hellchild’s attitude shines through here!

Dorothy and Oz return here, and it looks as though she is building up allies after the last Oz mini series. This works well as a link between the past mini series and the next. It also shows more of Oz and what to expect – I like the way it works there, and Dorothy’s magic skills are growing!

Some nice commentary of what Van Helsing does in the next story. With a highlight real of her skills and strengths (with a little on her weaknesses) This had a big tease for the next Van Helsing story, which looks very interesting!

We get an origin of Zodiac – he who has caused problems on behalf of Merlin. It’s an interesting Punisher-style origin, but the involvement of the IRA is interesting! This was a short look, and gave nothing away for the main Camelot series!

Next up is a tease of a new series (and new hero) coming. Based in part from Norse mythology, we get a tale of horror in a tavern. There’s a nice twist at the end, and it looks to be an interesting series!

Robyn Hood’s status is shown here, working as an arrow for hire. This story shows her skills well, as well as her attitude. Although there is a story coming up, this one seemed more of a character highlight!

Gretel is the final story and this gives us a good introduction to the character, her powers and her background. I like the fight scenes (pretty gruesome ending) and this looks to be an interesting character to read!
