Review: Gretel #4 From Zenescope Entertainment

Some thoughts on the latest issue of Gretel – issue #4 available this week from Zenescope Entertainment in print and digitally!

Gretel has been taken hostage by the mysterious girl who has been tracking her, but she will soon learn that they have more in common than she thought. Meanwhile, Samuel has come face-to-face with Tituba and their dark history together will be revealed.

Writer: Ben Meares
Artwork: Allan Otero

We start this issue with a big flashback. In fact this issue has three! The first flashback deals with the history between Samuel and Tituba. it’s quite good, as it doesn’t give us all the answers, but brings us up to speed with the history of the witches and the first time Gretel comes across them.
We also find out about the mysterious woman who has been tracking and attacked Gretel. This worked out as well as I expected, but it was nicely done, with some more information about the witches, what they do, and some more powers of Gretel’s.
This all builds up well to the final issue. Gretel looks to have some unexpected support, and that may be just what she needs, as she is expected.

Note – The Japanese witch was pretty horrifying!
