Review: Transformers ’84 #0

Wow! Making me feel my age – this is a look at the classic Transformers of back in 1984 from IDW Publishing!

An all-new prequel to the original 1984 Transformers #1! Celebrating 35 years of Transformers!
War has gripped the planet Cybertron, but an even deadlier threat looms-an asteroid belt powerful enough to destroy the metal world unless Autobot Field Commander Optimus Prime and his heroic recruits can clear a path for the planet. But what other motivations does Prime have for this mission? And how does it tie to a secret on Earth in the eleventh century?
Celebrating 35 years of TRANSFORMERS!
Reuniting the Transformers: Regeneration One team of Simon Furman and Guido Guidi!

This takes me back! Before the Transformers landed on Earth, they travelled in space on the Ark. We all know this, but this is about the build up to it. There’s a lot going on here, and more than you would expect. I like the mix between the two intersecting stories. It shows the tough decisions that Optimus Prime has had to make too.
It’s great seeing some of the old Transformers too – some of which I had as toys (and still have, my kids have played with them!
Some excellent nostalgia, well written and excellent art!
