Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2178

Some thoughts on this week’s 2000 AD – Prog 2178

COVER: PJ HOLDEN

An awesome cover by PJ Holden. I’d love a print of this on my wall!

JUDGE DREDD: CHIMPSKY’S LAW by Kenneth Niemand (w) PJ Holden (a) Quinton Winter (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

It’s great to see the return of Chimpsky. He’s a great character, funny yet serious in Mega City One. It’s a great build-up and I like the way it builds up to the problem – Dredd! looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

SURVIVAL GEEKS: CRISIS OF INFINITE NERDS by Emma Beeby, Gordon Rennie (w) Neil Googe (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

The games continue, and we get some of the answers we are looking for. I like how they share a mind palace. The reference to Knightmare was excellent – I loved that show.

SKIP TRACER: NIMROD by James Peaty (w) Paul Marshall (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon Bowland (l)

Nolan seems to find his way in, but there are other problems lurking in the mind of Nimrod. I like the back and forth between the two, and this is a story with a time limit now.

AQUILA: THE BURNING FIELDS by Gordon Rennie (w) Patrick Goddard (a) Pippa Bowland (c) Jim Campbell (l)

We get a look at the real quest here. The gates of Hades, we get a good battle and a look at the enemy too. I like the build-up, and we may have a way to get Aquila his sight back.

HERSHEY: DISEASE by Rob Williams (w) Simon Fraser (c) Simon Bowland (l)

Hershey has a plan, and it seems to be working. Some excellent action scenes here and the art is brilliant. I like the build up, and the ending adds to the threat.
