Review – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Jennika II #2

The second issue of this TMNT spinoff is out now – this is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Jennika II #2 from IDW Publishing.

Jennika descends deeper into the underground of Mutant Town in search of answers to the bizarre transformations that have been affecting her fellow citizens. Forced to work with a former enemy, Jennika realizes that the answers she seeks are more complicated and dangerous than she thought!

Brahm Revel (Author, Artist, Cover Artist)

This is a fast moving issue, with not a lot of time to take a breath. First there is the battle with the two ‘monsters’ which is important to finish quickly because there is a news crew flying around Mutant Town. Jennika is aware that any bad publicity could cause problems for the mutants.

The fight is well done, with some excellent scenes. The near miss with the fire was well done, as is the reaction to it. Then there is an interesting finish to the first half of the story.

As the story progresses we get some urban legends and they are investigated. What comes out is something underneath Mutant Town – I wonder if this will link into a potential story in the main series?

The art is excellent – as is the colouring – and they suit the fast paced nature of the story. It only really slows down at the very end and leaves us with a nice cliffhanger for the next issue.
