Literate Machine offers free downloads after company shut down

Digital comics and anthology site ‘Literate Machine’ has seen very little activity in the recent months- mainly because the company folded in May. Although information is sparse at this time, Literate Machine’s official website cites problems with their financial backing, as well as founding members of the site being hired by competing companies. This is definitely a sad affair, what with the company’s focus on independent and small press works. The best we can hope for is that the artists and creators promoted will be able to find a new digital home. However, although rising out of unfortunate events, anyone who is interested in what ‘Literate Machine’ had to offer, all their free comics are still available to download, so those interested in the indy scene might want to check out what’s there and let these artists’ works get some more exposure.
