Things are moving on, now after all the furore of the non-releases/release of Saga #12 on iOS products, you can now get more!

The implications of the Saga #12 issue, the comic book denied tablet and phone distributioin by ComiXology because of the way it interpreted Apple’s guidlines – erroneously it seems – means that other rejected titles may also be making their way onto ComiXology on iOS.

Such as the miniseries spinoff The Boys: Herogasm. Which wasn’t that sexually explicit really, it was basically tits, bums, innuendo and carefully chosen camera angles. “Carry On The Boys” if you like. It too found itself dropped by ComiXology from iOS devices. It was presumed to have fallen foul of Apple’s guidelines, but now it’s back in force….

And Comic Book Resources:

This week’s news cycle was largely dominated by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ “Saga” #12, published by Image Comics. Earlier in the week, Vaughan issued a press releasestating “because of two postage stamp-sized images of gay sex, Apple is banning tomorrow’s ‘Saga’ #12 fem being sold through any iOS apps,” specifically comiXology’s app and the Image Comics app. However, the next day, comiXology CEO David Steinberger released a statement saying Apple did not reject “Saga” #12.

“As a partner of Apple, we have an obligation to respect its policies for apps and the books offered in apps,” Steinberger said. “Based on our understanding of those policies, we believed that Saga #12 could not be made available in our app, and so we did not release it today.”

Today, CBR has learned that in the wake of the issues surrounding “Saga” #12, Image Comics asked that previously-unavailable-on-iOS comics “Black Kiss II” by Howard ChaykinRick Remender and Tony Moore’s “XXXombies” andJoe Casey and Piotr Kowalski’s recently-released “Sex” #1 be revisited. As a result, all three are now currently available on both comiXology and the Image Comics iOS app.

“Before this past wednesday, ‘Black Kiss II,’ ‘XXXombies’ and ‘Sex’ #1 were not available in the comiXology app or the Image Comics iOS app (powered by comiXology),” Image Comics Director of Business Development told CBR. “We were told they were violation Apple’s guidelines. For some reason, ‘Sex’ #2 didn’t have this problem, nor any previous issue of ‘Saga’ or any issue of ‘The Walking Dead’ (Which is full of violence and mature content). After ‘Saga’ #12 was approved, we asked that ‘Sex’ #1, ‘Xxxombies’ and ‘Black Kiss II’ be revisited and now all 3 are live in the comiXology app and the Image Comics iOS app.”

It’s currently unknown whether the three Image titles in question were in the same situation as “Saga” #12, which comiXology believed could not be made available in its app based on its own understanding of Apple’s policies for apps and books offered in apps.
