Review: 2000AD – Prog 1856

A good cover this week with a nice angle and use of space and colour!

Judge Dredd continues the second part of this three parter in Prey and we get a look at the predator of the Prey. There still seems to be something else bubbling beneath the surface here, so look out for that! The art is pretty good – there is a good mix of dark and light scenes!

Brass Sun leads us into the next arc well, with a massive info dump – but not for us. Although we get a lot of information about what’s to come and what happened in the past. The pastel tones are well used here – especially with the special effects!

While the rodeo is being infiltrated in Flesh we get a look at democracy in the future! There’s some brilliant old school 2000AD humour and characterisation here with the presidential candidates! Meanwhile the team try to smuggle in a violent T-Rex….

Tharg’s 3hrillers starts a new story with a time traveling cold case team. Neatly sidestepping the time travel paradox and gives us a look at some future tech and the past murders. Again, this could be a good long running series with this concept, but we shall see how it ends!

Damnation Station gives us an alien battle, which is different to what you would expect – these are nasty aliens to fight! The mix of colours in the alien world and the aliens themselves is pretty bright, but grim! And it all ends with fire!
