Review: Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens #1

My thoughts on this new series from Dark Horse & IDW

These crossovers can be a little hit and miss – one of my earliest collections was Batman Vs Predator and I loved it, but the quality gradually degraded in later series. But and this is a big one, IDW have been doing good things with Judge Dredd and the Aliens/Predator franchise seems in safe hands with Dark Horse, so I had high hopes for this series.
And I was right. This issue gives us an introduction to Dredd for any who are unaware of him, and the world he lives in. We also get a brief rundown on the Predator(s) and the Aliens. The Aliens don’t get a look in (other than a facehugger) but they will be about soon! Setting it in the Cursed Earth is a nice move, and the meddling gene-splicing doctor is a perfect foil for the three groups! The art is gritty and raw and matches the tone and characters really well – we get a nice finish with all the parties not meeting yet, but its interesting!
