Reviews: Back To The Future & Dirk Gently: Salmon of Doubt

This week - Back To The Future #13 & Dirk Gently: Salmon Of Doubt #1

Kicking off a new story arc and Marty is doing a lot of soul searching – he’s worried that his and Docs’ time travelling is causing trouble with him and his memory! There’s a lot of soul searching here as Marty goes through everything with his girlfriend, his dad – and even the local vicar! (It looks like he and Doc are going to hell!) There isn’t any real time travelling in this issue, but that’s ok as it all builds up nicely to the end, as Marty makes a discovery that looks like it’s going to kick off this whole story arc. After all the shenangins of time travel in previous issues, this was a nice slow down to take stock – and I’m interested to see what Doc has to say!

If you’ve read the previous Dirk Gently series, then this is an excellent run-on from those – picking up some of the threads and giving you the status quo from the previous adventures. Then there are those who have (or are going to) watch the new TV series. Then in this case it’s an excellent jumping on point as you get a good introduction of the characters (and their philosophies) and the world they live in!
Dirk is having problems with his memory, and there seems to be ‘extras’ in there as he investigates himself as his own client. To do this he gives a spotted history and then leads us back to his old university and the strange professor within. Then things get strange(r)
This was a fun kick off with some excellent mysteries going on (more time travel too!) and I look forward to where we are going!
