Review: Geek-Girl #2

From Markosia on comiXology

Following the calamitous events of issue #1, Ruby and her BFF Summer head to a nightclub to get drunk and enjoy some much needed downtime. They weren’t banking on meeting unhinged Alt Girl Nina Dante!…

Issue #2 starts with a nice wrap up of the previous issue, by the means of a TV report with Ruby and Summer watching (and commenting) – it’s a good way to kick off this second issue.

In the space of some short time here we get a lot going on. Ruby and Summer go clubbing and there is a lot to take in. Mysteries about the glasses – do they have an effect on Ruby? The way things are going, my guess is yes! Then we’ve got the new member of the cast – Nina does seem a little unhinged, and there seems to be some issues with her which will make her worse! Added to all this, we’ve got a bit of something happening with Rick. Ruby fought him off, and then….something happened – this looks to continue from the last panel of this issue.

On top of all this there is the underlying issue with Lightening Girl – who gets mentioned, but does not feature!

This is an excellent ‘building’ issue, with a lot being introduced – probably for another day, but the foundations are all there!

I enjoyed the art, and the feel of the club scenes is perfect – plus there is a little action which is well drawn!
