Review: Geek-Girl #3

In this specially priced 'JUMP-ON' issue that features a bonus recap of Geek-Girl #1-#2

Ruby Kaye is ready to fully embrace being a super-hero. …But is she ready for Mr. Mash-Up?

We kick off this issue with a nice re-cap of the previous issues of Geek-Girl over two pages. Nicely done, and this makes this a good jumping on point for new readers.

Jumping right in we get a nice piece of introductory action from Geek-Girl – taking out some bad guys and testing out some of her banter. A nice fight scene (it’s one-sided, but some should be!)
There’s an interesting interlude in Paris, which looks to be something we’re going to be building up to!
Next up we get a good look at what Geek-Girl’s personal life is like. She trying to do the right thing, but the ‘popular’ girls are still making life difficult for her. We also get a bit of a look at the previous owner (and creator) of the glasses she wears – he’s not happy about it!
The issue wraps up some of the issues Geek-Girl/Ruby has been having and the second half moves pretty quickly. There are hints towards a bigger story and things are moving on at a good pace. We get some of the interlude explained, but there is still something going on. It’s a good read and some fun scenes – some of them are quite cringy, but they fit well into this title.

I’m really enjoying this series!
