Reviews: Surgeon X & Saga

Surgeon X #5 & Saga #42

My thoughts on two of the digital comics from Image Comics

This is a real up-and-down issue. We get surgery, trips into space, trips to Burma and to crime scenes. It’s all starting to fit together with the Mayor Of London throwing her weight around (and being more suspicious because of it). Martha and Rosa start to discover what her mother was up to, and how they can continue on her work. This cost money though so Rosa does VR surgery on a patient in space – it works (just) and things look good. Then there is another surgery to do, and things don’t go to plan as you would expect. This gives us the ups and downs – not only of the character, but also of being a surgeon in general! There’s a lot of mysteries in this series -but now we are actually discovering what those mysteries are!

Wow! This was a brave issue and reminds me of the old online joke of “what is bravery?”
This
This issue does that in the final pages, really bringing the feeling of despair to this issue. There are other things going on too – with the Will finally hitting rock bottom in a horrible way and also some of the other peripheral characters. This is a sad end to the arc, but there is the promise of more to come..
