Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2018

Judge Dredd, Sinister Dexter, Kingmaker, The Order & Kingdom

My thoughts on this weeks 2000 AD Prog

This cover has a classic feel to it!

We get a little bit of a flashback in Judge Dredd – not far, but Deep In The Heart gives us a look at the other side of the arrest of the Sector Zero operative in Texas City. I enjoyed this issue and it seems to be getting to the meat of the story – the twist at the end makes a lot of sense if you read between the lines of the previous progs! How Dredd reacts on the other hand is a different matter!

Sinister Dexter return in a one-shot story – One-Hit Wonder – with the story of a hit on an extremely rich target! We get a look into the gunsharks world with lots of explanations for the different terms and tech that they use. It’s an enjoyable read, and I wonder if this is going to be leading into a bigger Sinister Dexter storyline!

King Maker continues the betrayal by the Dryad king and there is a some explanation as to why this happened and the logical response. I got a feeling of the bad guys in the Chronicles Of Riddick in this issue and the nature of the Corporate Corpus. It looks like we’ve got a rescue mission to happen next – and things are all going chaotic with magic and the dead roaming about!

In The Order The Wyrm War is really happening, with the first shots fired over New Atlantis. We get gun battles, soldiers and the reveal of a mole (or trojan) among them. We discover who or what has sent the signal to the Wyrm as the attack is underway. This was a smoother read than some of the past issues – perhaps because it is all set in one time (mostly!)

Kingdom continues with Gene meeting someone from his dreams – from last issue. As It Is In Heaven continues to add more to the mythos away from the planet, and although Gene and Paws have a common cause at the moment, I can see some conflict looming up on the horizon for them in the future. There is no sign of the chasing pack at the moment, but there is enough problems for the trio to deal with as they move on in the underbelly of the ship. I like the explanations and they make a lot of sense!
