Review: Chimera #5

A hunt begins as the prisoner presents his case.

When a covert mission goes horribly wrong, a crew of thieves find themselves caught in the middle of a vicious, interstellar holy war.

In this issue, a hunt begins as the prisoner presents his case.

I think this issue is all about the fallout. First of all is the fallout of the death of Moolang-Sook. this looks like it’s going to have some repercussions, as the conclave are going to be looking for who did it. And the little guard knows just who to blame. He looks like he’s going to track them down and pin it on them!

Charlie wakes up and we finally get some explanation about the Chimera – and why everyone is so keen to get their hands on it. This could cause no end of trouble for the whole universe!
As an additional note, I love the way those who have no mouths can speak in this issue – it works really well and the art complements it well!

We get some more of the prisoner, not his name or why he is there, but we get some hints – all of which are very interesting. I like the way this is being done, with the prisoner and the priestess verbally sparring. The prisoner seems to be getting the better of it, and he is worming doubt into her mind….

This all builds up to the plan to go and get the Chimera – and we get the feeling things are not going to plan!

I love the pacing in this issue (it’s a strong points for the series too) and the way things are all being set up between all the characters is excellent. The art and colour schemes are also excellent, with some nice pallets.
