Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2040

My thoughts on this weeks 2000 AD – Prog 2040

A very relevent cover for this weeks 2000 AD

Judge Dredd: The Wrap-Up by Arthur Wyatt (w) Tom Foster (a) Chris Blythe (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

Dredd kicks us off with another one shot story, this time concentrating on some of the findings in Tech-division! There could be a whole series of Tech-Div to my mind, and I love Dredd’s reaction to all of it. The twist on the Mummy theme is excellent, as is the reasoning behind it all.

Brink: Skeleton Life by Dan Abnett (w) INJ Culbard (a) Simon Bowland (l)

This arc of Brink finishes here, and although we don’t get all the answers, we do get a way forward. I like the line of questioning, and it seems we are getting very close to getting to the bottom of all this. Bridget seems to have had an ally, perhaps an unwilling one, but we shall see! I liked the speed of this issue, it was frantic, yet calm in equal measures!

Greysuit: Foul Play by Pat Mills (w) John Higgins (a) Sally Hurst (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

Greysuit returns – adding a sci-fi feel to this spy/action caper. The location has changed, this time we’re in a jungle. The action is pretty much non-stop, and I like the literal cliffhanger ending!

Grey Area: Border Ops by Dan Abnett (w) Mark Harrison (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

After all the one-shot Grey Area stories, we get a more in-depth start to a story arc. Don’t get me wrong the one-shots have been very good to establish and re-establish characters. Now they have something more solid to look into as aliens are being smuggled out of the Grey Area – I like the differing styles of the two teams too!

Hunted: Furies by Gordon Rennie (w) PJ Holden (a) Len O’Grady (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

More surprises in Hunted, with another attempt on the traitor general’s life. This is a really good buildup and it stacks the deck against the others after them all!
