Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2052

My thoughts on this weeks 2000 AD – Prog 2052

JUDGE DREDD: ICON by TC Eglinton (w) Colin MacNeil (a), Chris Blythe (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

This arc comes to an end, but you can tell the story hasn’t! Again, Dredd hardly features, but he does get dragged in as the public face of the controversy as not only is the modified statue unveiled, but also the following riots from the citizens. I like the story and the build to the event that is going to happen with the ‘Sons of Booth’…

GREY AREA: HOMELAND SECURITY by Dan Abnett (w) Mark Harrison (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

The team find a way round the tech enhanced sandstorm and it looks like we’ve got the way into the god-star egg! This issue flows well, with the action flitting from between the team and their support (who have no way of contacting them) The way around the sandstorm issues is well done, with some nice tech pieces and they make sense. Next issue looks to be good!

SLÁINE: ARCHON by Pat Mills (w) Simon Davis (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

Slaine’s battle gets personal, as there seems to be another man who may be his father. Slaine turns this round though and makes it part of his attack on Slough Feg. This was a faster paced issue with some excellent text/art ratios!
Next prog looks to be a problem though!

INDIGO PRIME: A DYING ART by John Smith, Kek-W (w) Lee Carter (a) Simon Bowland (l)

The entry into the psychic’s heads starts here, and we get a feeling of the type of experience it is! The reactions are all different and you can tell those who have done this sort of thing before. Although most of the action is centered on this, there are some strange things/beings on the outside….

SINISTER DEXTER: THE DEVIL & ALL HIS WHACKS by Dan Abnett (w) Jake Lynch (a) John Charles (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

This was fun – a nice throwback to an older story, and possibly something for the future for our favourite gun sharks! I like the mix and the dialog is excellent – it was a private contract!!!!
