Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2085

Some thoughts on this weeks edition of 2000 AD – Prog 2085

JUDGE DREDD: THE PARADIGM SHIFT by Michael Carroll (w) Jake Lynch (a) John Charles (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

Joyce continues to be a breath of air in this issue. His reactions and responses to Dredd are excellent and give me a feel of Anderson in the early days. We get the link between the data-pad and the nerve canisters here, and the threat level really ramps up at the end!

SKIP TRACER: HEAVY IS THE HEAD by James Peaty (w) Paul Marshall (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon Bowland (l)

The fallout from last issue gives us some of the skills of Skip and the rest is building up to our next leg of the Cube! it’s built up quite well and we get some interesting hints as to what’s to come. I got the feel of the people who live underground in Demolition Man here.
This part was mainly all talk, but its interesting!

SURVIVAL GEEKS: GEEK-CON by Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby (w) Neil Googe (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

We get the inside track on Qui and it looks like Simon is trouble! (I like the four-hour finge event and podcast gag!)
The chase is on – Simon doesn’t know what he’s in for and the rest of the Geeks have to save him!

THE FALL OF DEADWORLD by Kek-W (w) Dave Kendall (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

Psiren is having trouble here, and there are things going on around Judge Death that he may not be aware of!
he doesn’t feature here though, but the parallels between this and the Meg-1 world are interesting. Boone is there as are the Sov’s. The link between Psiren and the sisters is interesting, and I wonder where that will go to!

DURHAM RED: BORN BAD by Alec Worley (w) Ben Willsher (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

Red’s search isn’t going well, and the thirst is making things harder for her. This issue has some interesting points and Red manages to stave off the blood lust a little longer, get some satisfaction and fight an alien tiger…!
In the end, she does find her bounty, getting to her may be a different question!
