Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2097

Some thoughts on this weeks 2000 AD – Prog 2097 from Rebellion – available digitally and in print. And an awesome front cover!

JUDGE DREDD: THE BOOTH CONSPIRACY

by TC Eglington (w) Staz Johnson (a) Abigail Bulmer (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

That was a fun read. It’s nice to see the Judges being proactive, not reactive to a threat. In this case, they have got the ‘Sons of Booth’ into a frenzy with a nice plan. it’s well done and thought out. I like the way it was told, and the set up. I’m looking forward to the next issue!

SURVIVAL GEEKS: SLACK N’ HASH

by Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby (w) Neil Googe (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

More slasher tropes. The Final Girls plan seems like a good idea (!) but I don’t think it’s going to play that way. I like the crack about the boyfriend and the stoner. This is Survival Geeks and they don’t play by the rules. The build up to the final panel was fu

THE ORDER: THE NEW WORLD

by Kek-W (w) John Burns (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

We find out about the mother, and the shadows in this issue. It looks like it’s a three-way war and this issue has casualties! The flashbacks were interesting, and I like the way the attack was built up. The fight scene was a little too fast for my taste, but it moves the story on well!

MECHASTOPHELES: TRUE FAITH

by Gordon Rennie, Lawrence Rennie (w) Karl Richardson (a) Simon Bowland (l)

We find out more about Mechastopheles in this issue. His power and his true name. Obviously, when you know a demons true name you control it, so this may even the odds somewhat. Meanwhile it looks as if the church may have what they want – this will be a race against time!

GREY AREA: EVIDENCE

by Dan Abnett (w) Mark Harrison (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

Bullit’s evidence collection seems to be going well, he’s getting closer to the truth.

Meanwhile Kymn and Bitch are working out what they are doing and why, but it seems like they may have a plan….
