Reviews: Grimm Fairy Tales & Zodiac

Some thoughts on this weeks digital comics from Zenescope Entertainment – Grimm Fair Tales Vol.2 #27 and Zodiac #3

Grimm Fairy Tales Vol.2 #27

Maze Run

Now, Skye is on the quest to save her friend, and the first stop on her journey is a maze from hell run by the most deranged woman in all the realms! Skye must play along if she hopes to retrieve the item she seeks and save the innocents trapped on these deadly games.

The return of a familiar villain here. And Skye is stuck in the middle of a maze! It’s not just her though and I like the addition of the ‘normal’ people – it raises the stakes well.
This issue had a good amount of action in it, the battles in the maze work really well, plus the addition of nullifying Skye’s powers work really well.
There is a nice link to her quest too with the ‘boss fight’ featuring the next part of her quest to find Shang (remember him?) I like the finish well, with the the follow up working and a possibility of the villain of this issue being dealt with in the future….

Zodiac #3

With three more names crossed off Zodiac’s list, he continues on his mission to remove the key players in the Order of Tarot. Zodiac’s past continues to haunt him as he is put to the ultimate test in this final issue. Will Zodiac come out on top or will the Order of Tarot make him the final check off their list?

 Daniel Maine

Some good action here in the final issue of this mini-series of the assassin for Merlin. There is a good character arc here, with Zodiac flashing back to his past, and the Devil being a little too crafty for her own good!
The action side of it is well done, but in short supply. Zodiac gets to round off his arc here and although he will never be one of the ‘good guys’ there is a little redemption for him. I like the twist at the end, where there may be something for the future for him.
He’s still going to be running round the GFT universe, but I can’t see him caught up in anything cosmic.
A good finish.
