Reviews: Transformers & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Some thoughts on Transformers #8 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #95 – out this week from IDW Publishing in print and digitally!

Transformers #8

As Megatron seeks to bring about change to Cybertron, he meets with Termagax, a living piece of Cybertronian history and founder of the Ascenticon movement. Will she set him on the path to peace, or lead him to an unrepairable rupture with the Senate?

Things are building up. Megatron seems to be getting his plans together and it’s looking a little more sinister! Bumblebee’s role with Megatron is interesting – I do wonder if he is going undercover. We get a lot of Cyclonus in this issue. And some action. The action is pretty short lived, but has some good parts in it. This series is slowly introducing new characters (and old) and it works really well. the art continues to be excellent in this issue and I wonder when this is going to boil up into all-out war!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #95

City at War Part 3. The Turtles race against time to save one of their own, but beset by obstacles on all sides-including the Earth Protection Force and the tide of approaching battle between two warring ninja clans-will they be too late?

An ally’s life hangs in the balance!

The countdown to issue #100 continues!

Kevin Eastman – Writer, Variant Cover Artist
Dave Wachter – Artist, Cover Artist

Things really start to kick off here! The EPF take on the Turtles with their allies. I like the set up, although there is a little spoiler at the end. Some are captured and there are some good fight scenes. No Raph in this issue – but he is a little busy! Metalhead and Donnie have a good moment, and I like the way the escape is planned.

Issue #100 awaits!
