Review: Van Helsing vs Dracula’s Daughter #2

Some thoughts on the latest issue of this Van Helsing Mini series – out now from Zenescope Entertainment digitally and in print

Hot on the trail of the monster responsible for stealing the bones of her greatest enemy, Helsing will learn firsthand that the threat she now faces may be the greatest threat of all.

Writer: Raven Gregory
Artwork: Allan Otero

This is issue is a lot of build up.. There is going to be one hell of a battle after all this. We get some flashback to Van Helsing’s mothers past – by way of her journal, although we have no idea how that links to the current situation. I’m sure it does though. We also meet one of Van Helsing’s associates – some interesting ideas there, with maybe something to consider (or look out for) in the future.
This was a good issue and it seems to show the stakes (no pun intended) with this series, with a major attack on those van Helsing cares for.
I like that this is a slower issue, as there is still a few more issue to go in this mini series. Van Helsing is a good character for these sort of arcs, and showing her team is a good aspect too.
The art is excellent – with some nice crisp scenes and good use of colour and shadow (very little light!)
