Some thoughts on this weeks 2000 AD – Prog 2169
JUDGE DREDD: COLD CASE by Kenneth Niemand (w) Tom Foster (a) Chris Blythe (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
This was a good look at the state of some of the crimes in Mega City One. What with all the disasters that have happened, it’s obvious that some of them will get lost. Dredd trusts his, and others instincts and goes for a bit of poetic justice. Nicely written!
BRINK: HATE BOX by Dan Abnett (w) INJ Culbard (a) Simon Bowland (l)
A nice conclusion to the madness that has been going on in this Hab! Kurtis is an interesting character, usually very stolid, but this issue shows her human side too.
THE ZAUCER OF ZILK: A ZAUCERFUL OF SECRETS by Peter Hogan (w) Brendan McCarthy (a+c) Len O’Grady (c) Jim Campbell (l)
Zaucer starts to get to the bottom of it all. This was a sadder issue, but we’re marching towards the end. I like the touching moments here.
PROTEUS VEX: ANOTHER DAWN by Michael Carroll (w) Henry Flint (a) Simon Bowland (l)
This was some heavy, violent action in this issue. I like the background to it all, and the fight scenes are massive. Time is not on Vex’s side!
FERAL & FOE by Dan Abnett (w) Richard Elson (a+c) Joe Elson (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
A new tank, and a nice twist. The Wyrm is interesting and the sword is brilliantly annoying. A nice couple of twists at the end of the tale.
