Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2174

Some thoughts on this weeks 2000 AD – Prog 2174, out now.

JUDGE DREDD: HAIR OF THE DOG by Ian Edginton (w) D’Israeli (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A new story arc for Dredd and he’s teaming up with an alien to take down a lawman gone bad. I liked the build-up in this and the ending leads us into something which will be a fun read.

AQUILA: THE BURNING FIELDS by Gordon Rennie (w) Patrick Goddard (a) Pippa Bowland (c) Jim Campbell (l)

Aquila returns and this issue gives us a quick look at the new status quo, and how we got there. The recap is well done. Well, it’s a recap in a recap, so we’ve more to learn about how Aquila got to where he is.

SINISTER DEXTER: THE FRIGHTENERS by Dan Abnett (w) Steve Yeowell (a) John Charles (c) Simon Bowland (l)

Completing this story for Sinister Dexter. This felt like a nice recap of what has happened and what is to come. It’s a little slow (expect the train ride) but it gets us all set up.

SKIP TRACER: NIMROAD by James Peaty (w) Paul Marshall (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon Bowland (l)

This issue give us some of the information we’re after. The history of Nimrod, right up to him starting to become what he is now. As Skip mentions, that’s not the whole story, but before that, we get linked to the previous issue…

FERAL & FOE by Dan Abnett (w) Richard Elson (a+c) Joe Elson (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

Everything seems to be lost, and this may be the end. There is a big question mark though and I wonder if this is. It was well done, and the characters all work well. I like this series.
