Review: Transformers #23

Issue #23 of Transformers is out this week and it’s a big one. From IDW Publishing.

“We Have Deceived You.” Cybertron has suffered. The world is in chaos. The situation on the ground truly is a crisis. Sentinel Prime, head senator and leader of the Autobots, will denounce the Ascenticons, the Rise, and anyone he thinks is an enemy of Cybertron’s security. But to do it, he’ll have to get through Senator Megatron first.

Brian Ruckley (Author) Anna Malkova (Artist) Joana Lafuente (Cover Artist)

This is the big one. The turning point. It looks like there is no going back here.

Nevertheless there are some interesting points. Megatron’s discussion with Orion Pax was very well done. Two former colleagues and possibly friends, now going in different ways.
Orion Pax recognises the problems in the current Autobot system, but he also sees the dangers in the Decepticon plan.

We also get Starscream – he’s been in this series sparringly, and this is classic Starscream – we’re not getting his full character out there, but the hints are all good.
Starscream has always been one of my favourites.

The final act on this issue is the powder keg that starts it all off – you can probably spot some historical similarities here. It was well played and amazingly done!
